Standardized clinical assessment tools enable the evaluation of disease severity and monitoring of its progression. The Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a sufficiently simple and accurate tool for examining patients with various forms of ataxia. However, the use of this scale in the Russian Federation is limited because a validated Russian-language version is not available.</p> <p><bold>Aim.</bold> A linguacultural adaptation of the original version of SARA with an assessment of the psychometric properties of the created official Russian-language version.</p> <p><bold>Materials and methods. </bold>This study included 60 patients with hereditary cerebellar ataxias, with a median age of 48 [39.3–58.8] years. During the first stage, a linguacultural adaptation of the original English version of the scale was performed following standard guidelines. During the second stage of the validation study, we assessed the psychometric properties of the Russian-language version of the scale: reliability, content validity, and sensitivity.</p> <p><bold>Results.</bold> The resulting Russian-language version of the SARA scale demonstrated a high levels of reliability, sensitivity, and validity.</p> <p><bold>Conclusion.</bold> A validated Russian-language version of the SARA is presented and recommended for use in clinical practice and research by Russian-speaking specialists.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p><bold>Введение.</bold> Клиническая картина атаксии включает большой спектр симптомов, выраженность которых увеличивается при прогрессировании заболевания. Использование стандартизированных клинических инструментов оценки позволяет устанавливать степень тяжести заболевания, а также своевременно отслеживать его прогрессирование. Шкала оценки и определения степени атаксии (Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia, SARA) является достаточно простым и точным инструментом для обследования пациентов с различными видами атаксий. Однако ее применение на территории Российской Федерации ограничено в связи с отсутствием валидированной русскоязычной версии.</p> <p><bold>Цель исследования</bold> – лингвокультурная адаптация оригинальной версии SARA с оценкой психометрических свойств созданной официальной русскоязычной версии.</p> <p><bold>Материалы и методы.</bold> В настоящее исследование были включены 60 пациентов с наследственными мозжечковыми атаксиями, медиана возраста составила 48 [39,3–58,8] лет. На 1-м этапе выполнена лингвокультурная адаптация оригинальной англоязычной версии шкалы согласно общепринятым рекомендациям.
